Getting to know Marissa Biondolillo

My aim in therapy is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients of all backgrounds can explore their emotions and intuition. My goal is not to give you the most perfect advice, but rather to teach you how to listen to the part of yourself that already knows what you need, and to help you work through the internal and practical obstacles in your way. I support those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges, including individuals and couples from diverse and LGBTQ+ communities. I have a particular love for teaching clients how to use the mind-body connection to their advantage, blending what I learned through the practices and philosophy of yoga with my formal social work education.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with my LCSW pending. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Gender Studies from William Smith College, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University at Buffalo. As a result of my education and experience, I see mental health issues as inextricably linked with their social and historical context, and I find that making those connections clear can be very empowering for clients. I became a therapist to pass along the knowledge which has helped me in my own battles with anxiety and depression throughout my life, including the mindfulness skills I learned through yoga and meditation. Outside of my clinical work, I am also a dancer, actor, writer, songwriter, signer, crafter, and all around artsy kind of person. (On a related note, I consider creativity to be one of life’s major built-in antidepressants along with community, humor, the outdoors, and spirituality).

Marissa is a great listener who is very attentive to the specific needs of the patient. She’s also very helpful and provides fun, effective exercises.
I started working with Marissa nearly 4 years ago, and the transformation that I have seen in my life and in the way I carry myself today is absolutely unmatched. I came to Marissa lost, scared, traumatized, and extremely unhealed. She met me where I was at every single session and made me feel seen and validated week after week. With her patience, understanding, and guidance I was able to learn more about myself than I ever knew existed. I was with Marissa for about 2 years I believe, during which time I learned how to name the emotions in my body, and the coping skills to manage them. If you have a chance to link with Marissa, 10 out of 10 stars right here. The years I spent working with her were the most profound of my life, and they've helped shape me into who I've become today.
Marissa is wonderful. She really listens and offers amazing advice, allowing you to understand your thoughts and figure out what works best for you!
Well organized and structured visit. My time spent with Marissa has been beneficial for my reasons engaging into therapy. Also would love to point out this was my first experience being in therapy and Marissa has made the experience in a comfortable setting for me making it as a Telehealth! I would highly recommend anybody who is thinking about therapy or being referred to pick Marissa as your therapist! She is an absolute gem and a blessing to have her guide me in my journey. God bless her!
