Getting to know Dr. Marissa Gastelle

Hi! I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in child clinical psychology from Kent State University. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their caregivers to help them manage mental health symptoms they are experiencing so they can become the best versions of themselves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use evidence-based approaches to offer clients treatments research shows have helped other youth. When working with youth I think it is important to involve supports in their life including their caregivers or other important adults to try to help build relationships and environments they can thrive in. My personal style is direct, open, and focused on taking my clients' goals and values into account.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is about getting to know the youth, the family and environment, and what's bringing them to therapy. In following sessions, we will work together to devise the goals for therapy and a plan to track progress so that we can see how things are going and what's been helpful. My goal is to help youth and families develop a plan moving forward so that they can feel ready to manage their symptoms and the demands and stresses that come with life and growing up.
