Mark Chapman, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I'm Mark Chapman. I'm licensed as an LCSW and LCDC in Texas, and LICSW in Minnesota. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas, Arlington. My approach is gentle and challenging, aiming to make clients, especially omnigender individuals, feel safe and understood. My expertise includes treating physical, sexual, and mental/emotional abuse, PTSD, depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and substance abuse disorders. My approach I primarily use Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Integrative or Holistic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Socratic Questioning, and Narrative Therapy. My focus I work with omnigender clients who have experienced physical, sexual, and mental abuse in childhood and/or adulthood, including spousal or partner abuse by narcissistic partners. I also serve active military, veterans, first responders, and healthcare workers—such as nurses—who have experienced trauma related to COVID. I treat PTSD/trauma, depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and substance abuse disorders. My communication style I am warm and inviting to create a safe environment. I encourage clients to challenge themselves during sessions while using reflection to ensure they feel understood and validated. I am open to constructive criticism and feedback. My therapy is a team approach between myself and my clients. My journey to therapy I was burned out as an accountant and sought support from a therapist. After several sessions, it was suggested I try classes I found interesting or volunteer work that attracted me. I began volunteering for an organization working with youth at risk. I spent a week with these youth in a camp setting and then a year with one of them. I saw much good being done for young people who had experienced horrible circumstances.
