Psychotherapist
187 E Market St, Rhinebeck, NY
I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders. I also have extensive experience helping people with anger management and depression and supporting my clients who are neurodivergent including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorder. I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years, and I have helped a lot of people get better so they can live more meaningful and productive lives. My job is to help you feel less distress so that you can do the things you want and need to do. If you are looking for a "no nonsense", short-term, targeted, and evidence-based treatment, then I am probably the right therapist for you. I also provide longer term treatment and support if needed.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT). I use Exposure and Response Prevention to treat OCD, and I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat PTSD. Both therapies are types of CBT. I also use CBT to treat body dysmorphic disorder, anxiety disorders, anger management, and depression. When I work with ADHD and my neurodivergent clients, I primarily use behavioral interventions and teach skills to improve executive functioning, frustration tolerance, and emotional regulation. I also use mindfulness techniques with many clients. These interventions are highly effective, and I tailor them to meet the specific needs of my clients. Targeted therapy can be completed in 12-24 sessions, though I offer treatment as long as my clients need it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

CBT is extremely flexible and collaborative and can be adapted to meet the needs of any client. I have a very person-centered approach, and I like to use creativity and humor to help my clients learn new ways of thinking and responding to triggers, as well as new coping skills.
