Hi there, I'm Mark! Greetings, I'm Mark Smith, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho. I earned my Master's in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. I use a combination of modalities and a person-centered approach to work with teens and adults who experience anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and ADHD/OCD. My approach My choice of modalities depends on the needs of the person I'm working with. Gestalt, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are my main methods. These techniques enable me to collaborate with clients in managing their mental health care and assist in developing mutual trust and understanding. My focus I've discovered that kids and adults facing personal issues and obstacles often resonate with my approach and manner. These challenges frequently manifest as stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, and ADHD/OCD. I help clients navigate these difficulties and acquire the skills necessary to cultivate a more optimistic view of life and themselves. My communication style My communication style is welcoming, honest, calm, non-judgmental, unbiased, and creates a secure atmosphere that allows clients to feel comfortable and willing to openly express their thoughts and feelings. I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been naturally drawn to helping others through difficult times. Joining the Army and becoming a Combat Medic helped solidify this drive. After 19 years of service and an additional 13 years working in the VA Hospital, I had the opportunity to pursue my current profession and help individuals become better versions of themselves. My goals for you My goals for clients focus on working together to identify what they want to accomplish and how to get there by setting achievable and measurable goals. Establishing trust and defining what it means to be in therapy are the first steps in this process.
