Marsha Johnson, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Marsha! My name is Marsha Jonson, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15 years of experience. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Baptist University. My greatest strength is getting to know clients deeply to implement unique services that lead to breakthroughs. My areas of focus include adaptive coping skills, behavioral changes, couples work, and adjustment to life changes. My approach The approaches I use are varied, but I tend to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, re-telling your story, ego-strengthening, trauma processing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Problem-Solving, and Couples Therapy with an emphasis on Gottman methods and curriculum. I also work with grief and loss, narcissism and infidelity, healing processes, and Narrative Therapy—separating the person from the problem. My focus I have experience working with diverse populations, cultures, and ages. The conditions I am familiar with include depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, problem-solving issues, trauma, adjustment difficulties (such as divorce or changes in work, school, living situations, or finances), grief from the death of loved ones or loss of relationships, and reality testing. My communication style I ask open-ended questions to gather information. Establishing rapport is very important to me. While I recognize I may not connect with everyone, it’s essential that clients receive the help they need—whether from me or someone else. I ask direct, explorative questions to assist clients in gaining personal insight. Active listening, empathy, and emotional support are always extended. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist has been rewarding. I was drawn to this field after enjoying psychology classes, engaging in volunteer work, and witnessing the positive outcomes of therapy in others’ lives as well as my own.
