Hello there! :) I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor/Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LMHC/LCPC), a Certified Trauma and Grief Therapist, and the founder of Mind Care Wellness Center, providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds since 2010. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Chicago and my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Chicago, IL. I have successfully worked with adults presenting with anxiety, depression, life stressors/conflicts, trauma, grief, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, among others, to help increase quality of life, improve functioning and relationships, and overall life satisfaction. For the past 10 years, my work has focused on children and adolescents, as well as their families, helping them become more self-aware, improve self-esteem, process emotions and gain better control over them, and decrease negative behaviors stemming from emotional, family, or social difficulties. Some of the most common areas of work with children include anxiety/worry, sadness/depression, ADHD, past trauma, grief, eating disorders, and behavioral difficulties. I am passionate about helping people become the best version of themselves. In my work, I believe that a strong therapeutic alliance is fundamental in helping individuals meet goals in therapy and subsequently make positive life changes. Empathetic and compassionate, I continuously work on building trust and understanding, guiding clients to explore, process, and learn skills needed to live healthier, happier lives. I care deeply about providing accessible care to people from diverse backgrounds, and being fluent in English, Spanish, and Polish allows me to offer therapy services to a larger population.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see beauty in how different we all humans are from each other, yet, similar in many instances. I hope that therapy can help each person “become the best version of yourself.” I see a tremendous value in an individualized approach to therapy, taking into consideration the client’s strengths, personality traits, lifestyle, current circumstances, and social environment. I build a treatment plan around those factors, as well as the client’s needs/ presenting problem to help improve functioning and overall life satisfaction. A firm believer in a holistic approach, I utilizes Cognitive Therapy, Behavior Modification, Solution Focused/Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness/Spiritual techniques, as I deem appropriate for each person to help achieve desired results. With children, I frequently use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Behavior Modification, Play Therapy, and Expressive Therapies (Art, Music, Storytelling, Drama/ Role Playing) to help engage the little ones, process feelings, and learn skills to meet their therapeutic goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first couple of sessions, I will gather information needed to understand you well and be able to subsequently form your goals for therapy. I will ask you about your presenting concern/reason for seeking therapy (emotional and how it affects your functioning and relationships), current life stressors, social history (family/friends, support network), some medical history, and career, among others. We will complete some basic paperwork needed to enroll in therapy. Your therapeutic relationship starts right there, with your therapist showing you unconditional compassion and empathy, trust, and support, in a safe and confidential environment. You will be encouraged to ask any questions you might have. Sessions usually last up to an hour (a typical session is 45-55 minutes long).
