Psychotherapist
LA
Hi there, I'm Martin! Martin "Marty" Romero, a licensed professional counselor and nationally certified counselor, who is also a recovering addict with 42 years clean and sober. I am a Christian and bring empathy, strength, and a solution-focused, encouraging approach to individuals, couples, and families facing life's struggles. I love working with those who are hurting, have hang-ups, or habits that make them feel unlike who or what they truly want to be. My approach I hold a Master's in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and have extensive training as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, specifically in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. I've also been trained in EMDR and other evidence-based treatment modalities. I have been a practicing counselor since 2001. My focus I work with individuals, couples, and families seeking peace and calm in their lives. Life happens to everyone, but some get stuck and need help moving forward. I work with clients from childhood through adulthood and am comfortable supporting nuclear, step, adopted, foster, and culturally diverse families and individuals-including singles exploring the “why” of singleness. My communication style My approach to helping you break through obstacles is empathetic, strength- and solution-focused, and encouraging. Life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. Let me help you develop better ways to handle the issues standing in the way of your growth and goals. I believe treatment is complete when you experience self-congruence-you feel like yourself again. My journey to mental healthcare I spent much of my teen years in institutions due to my addictive disorder, always involved in counseling or recovery. I started a family at fifteen and married my children's mother, who was bipolar, at eighteen. We were consistently in counseling as a couple and family.
