Psychotherapist
OH
"Hi there, I'm Marty. Anxiety, depression, anger, trauma—most of us experience times in our lives where we are overwhelmed by our circumstances. Whether you're looking to address anxiety or depressive issues, increase motivation, learn to let go of negative thinking and negative self-talk (we can be so mean to ourselves!), improve relationships or parenting skills, increase confidence, or any number of things, I've always thought it strange that we take our cars straight to the shop when something is off, but we don't do the same for ourselves when faced with difficult times. I've been in the mental health field since 1990 when I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology. I returned to graduate school when I was 40 in order to become a Mental Health Therapist and have been practicing as an independent therapist since 2013. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I have always been mindful of and humbled by the trust my patients have in me and work to make sure our time together is helpful. I have worked with people experiencing a variety of anxiety and depressive symptoms, behavioral disorders, ADHD, chronic pain and long-term illness, victims of violence and sexual assault. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in areas such as ADHD, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, family relationships, grief/bereavement, intimate/romantic relationships, life transitions, medical issues/physical health, military/veteran support, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), phobias, PTSD, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, trauma, and traumatic brain injury. When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate and supportive environment where we can explore your challenges and work towards meaningful change.
