Getting to know Marva Lewis

Hi there, I'm Marva! My niche, if it must be labeled, is working with people who not only want to change but are willing to. True growth happens when you are ready to move toward your best version of yourself. My approach As your therapist, my intention is to help you remember your ability to overcome whatever obstacle you face. My support will be holistic and validating. This may include offering skills and techniques from DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, or CBT. We might also use mind-body work, narrative techniques, or EMDR to process traumas you have experienced. My focus I have experience working with hurt, anger, depression, grief, managing conflict, communication skills, and addiction. It's hard for me to define a strict niche because the clients I've had the greatest success with are those willing to be vulnerable, honest, and open to change. Ideally, the clients I join on their journey allow themselves to grow, even when it feels uncomfortable. My communication style I like to interact with people as people. My communication style is relaxed and conversational. The goal is to speak with you as if I were processing with an old friend. My journey to mental healthcare Your family experiences set the tone for much of your life, and mine is no different. I was drawn to become a provider to help people face issues they might avoid and to de-stigmatize mental health in the BIPOC community. My graduate education includes a Master's in Social Work with a focus on Family and Couples Therapy from the University of Louisville. My first session with you Our first session will be like a meet and greet. The hope is to learn about you while setting the stage for our journey toward healing together.
