Life's challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether you're coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, or a major life transition. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. With nearly two decades of experience working with adolescents (ages 13-19) and young adults, I have supported individuals affected by childhood abuse, sexual and domestic violence, attachment wounds, and other traumatic experiences. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the International Association for Resilience and Trauma Counseling (IARTC), and the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). I believe healing happens in the context of a strong therapeutic relationship, and I would be honored to support you on your journey toward greater well-being and balance.

Getting to know Mary Brown

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that meaningful healing and growth begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety, and connection. Therefore, in order to determine if I will be the right fit for you, it is important for you to understand my personality and approach to counseling. I am warm and compassionate, but also direct. I think humor is important in the healing process. I am trained in various evidence-based interventions but would describe myself as an eclectic counselor. I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs, helping them build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and move toward lasting change. My advanced training includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic-based therapies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you reach out to me for services, I will contact you to determine what you are looking for in a therapist and allow you to decide if you would like to move forward with me. I will then send you my electronic intake forms to be completed prior to the first session. The first session will be scheduled for approximately two hours. During that time, we will review the intake forms, complete an assessment, and discuss your goals for counseling.
