Getting to know Mary Buser
I have 30 years of clinical experience working with a broad range of issues?anxiety, depression, drug addiction, alcoholism, eating disorders, hopelessness, PTSD, loneliness, and isolation. I have worked in hospital, outpatient, inpatient, and correctional settings, as well as with issues related to incarceration. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Asking for help isn't easy. Yet there are times when we cannot do it alone. Seeking help is the first step in finding relief from the pain of isolation, anxiety, and depression. I offer a safe place to express the depth of your fears, your internal struggles, as well as your dreams for a happier life. With a client-centered approach, I am empathetic and understanding, while also suggesting practical guidance. I look forward to meeting you!
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My treatment modality is insight-oriented therapy. It is client centered, meaning that first and foremost, you are in charge and I will support you on your journey. I couple this with compassionate Behavioral Therapy. As I get to know you, I may make some practical suggestions for you to consider and implement.
