Mary Eldridge, LISW, LCSW

Psychotherapist
WI
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. My family and I moved to the United States back in 2008. Growing up in Venezuela was wonderful, and I miss it every day; however, I'm very lucky to have built a life here and call it my home. As an immigrant, I can absolutely relate to the struggles of having two homes, missing your family back home, and also having built a new life. It can sometimes be hard to explain to folks who don't share the same experience, especially coming from a culture that is so family-oriented and where belonging involves an entire community. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work from the University of Iowa, which has helped me deepen my understanding and commitment to supporting individuals and families through their unique challenges.

Getting to know Mary Eldridge

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a BIPOC and bicultural Trauma Therapist who serves adult trauma survivors through all across the states of Iowa, Washington and Wisconsin through online trauma therapy in both English and Spanish.  As an English-Spanish speaking trauma therapist, I am dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for adults dealing with interpersonal trauma and centering their multicultural identities. My approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, aimed at empowering my clients to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, including incorporating EMDR as a healing tool. I know that things sometimes feel really hard, even impossible… you may feel like you have tried everything and nothing works or you are scared of getting started with a stranger, a new person or therapy overall, feels weird, scary, or not your thing I’m here to support you every step of the way. Answer your questions, give you resources, and create a space for you to process without judgement.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Do you feel like you’re never good enough? You’re feeling like no matter how hard you try, the expectations shift, and you are left feeling like it’s never good enough. Your mind is constantly running and can’t never take a break because you “need to be prepared for the worst that could happen”. You’re always on the run but feel like you’re spinning your wheels and can’t accomplish what you hoped for. You’re always questioning your decisions and thinking you should have done things differently. You have a hard time saying no but are left feeling gross about it. You can’t seem to let go or forget experiences that have caused you hurt and pain. If you identify with these statements, please know it is not your fault. These may be a sign that you’re carrying some unhealed pain with you. Let me support you in processing those experiences, so you can live a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful.
