Getting to know Mary Jo Mayes

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in treating individuals and couples facing relationship concerns, grief, trauma, life transitions and existential questions. I believe that developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for effective therapy, and I work to establish a secure, empathetic and positive relationship with my clients, first and foremost.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm trauma-informed and trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. All of these modalities guide my work with both individuals and couples. I continually add to my clinical tool box to better serve my clients. I am currently completing additional advanced training in both Trauma treatment and Grief treatment to integrate into my work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I would be honored to accompany you on your therapy journey. We'll work together to set the pace, and we'll make adjustments along the way!
