Mary Matese, MA

Mary Matese, MA

Psychotherapist
2000 19Th St, Springfield, OR
I'm a Licensed Psychologist Associate with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University. I offer therapy services to children aged 2 years or older, adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with problems related to general stress, behavior problems, AD(H)D, parenting, anxiety/OCD, phobias, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, depression, and autism. My primary therapeutic approach is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which uses processes such as mindfulness, acceptance, and values in order to help people develop the skills needed to more effectively cope with difficult emotions and setbacks. The client guides the therapy and develops goals and strategies through exploring values, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; with a focus on skill building. Therapy is a big investment of time, resources, and energy, which is why I chose to use therapies with a strong evidence base. I enjoy helping people move past painful experiences and circumstances and guiding them in building a fulfilling and meaningful life. About: I relocated to Eugene five years ago to be closer to family and enjoy Oregon's natural beauty. I love to spend my spare time working in my garden, cooking with family, or reading a book snuggled up next to my dogs.
