Hello, I'm Mary. Counseling can be a challenging, exciting, scary, and surprising process. My overall goal is to collaborate with you for your benefit, growth, and well-being. Each person is different, so our work will unfold in its own unique way. In my experience, cultivating self-awareness and compassion is the most radical and helpful approach to healing ourselves that we can take. I believe in the power of the intrinsically healthy nature of each person. As we work together, we will develop a range of practical tools that work for you. Counseling is a collaborative effort, and you are the ultimate authority in your life and in charge of any changes you want to make. My journey to becoming a therapist began at a very early age. I was introduced to counseling in my teens and was helped by many compassionate therapists. However, it was at a later time in my life I decided to return to school to begin my counseling career. I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Dallas, focusing on Business and Human Development. I received my M.S. degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Prior to receiving my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I worked in many different milieus such as telecommunications, oil, and legal/law firms. Upon completing graduate school, my first counseling job was at the clinic level serving the homeless and severely mentally ill. After several years in this setting, I was offered a partnership in a private practice. Since that time, almost 20 years, I've helped adult clients struggle with life's transitions. As an integrative therapist, my modality has been utilizing EMDR and EFT. Both of these have been researched and proven to dramatically help with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction. My hope is we can work in concert together to improve your emotional, psychological, and spiritual goals. If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
