Getting to know Mary Osazuwa

I enter every session with the understanding that you are the expert on your own life and experiences. My role is to create a safe, supportive space where honesty is encouraged, patterns are explored, and practical tools are discovered so you and your loved ones can navigate challenges more effectively and grow together. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, I help uncover patterns, improve communication, and practice real tools that make a difference in your relationships. I work systemically, meaning we look not just at individual behaviors, but at the patterns and interactions that shape relationships. We also explore underlying dynamics that may influence stress, misunderstandings, or repeated conflicts, helping you create healthier ways to relate and connect.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with Adults: Adulting can feel overwhelming, especially when juggling work, relationships, finances, and family responsibilities. Setbacks can feel constant, progress hard to hold onto, and it is easy to lose sight of who you are beyond the roles you play. In individual therapy, you have a space that’s fully your own. Together, we will slow down, make sense of what is weighing on you, and explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck. We will examine how your experiences and relationships shape how you think, feel, and respond. We will build practical tools to manage stress, navigate challenges, and move forward with clarity and confidence. Working with Couples: As a marriage and family therapist, I approach this work with the understanding that relationships do not exist in isolation. Each person brings their own experiences, perspectives, and needs—and therapy helps make space for all of it in a more productive and respectful way. In our work together, I help couples slow things down and create space to be heard, understood, and supported. We focus on what’s actually happening in your relationship and practice real, practical tools you can use in the moment, so you are actively building change rather than just talking about it. From there, we will work on strengthening connection, improving communication, and building healthier ways of relating to one another. Working with Families: In family therapy, we move beyond surface-level conversations and focus on what’s happening underneath. I help families identify communication patterns, understand each person’s perspective, and slow down reactive cycles that keep everyone feeling stuck. Together, we practice tools in real time, like setting boundaries, improving listening, expressing needs more clearly, and navigating difficult conversations with less defensiveness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is mindful, realistic, and collaborative. Whether it’s repairing a strained connection, navigating transitions, or managing the pressures of daily life, I help clients individually, as couples, or families become agents of their own change. With consistent engagement in the therapeutic process, it’s possible to strengthen relationships, improve emotional wellbeing, and move toward the next level of mental and relational health
