Hi there, I'm Mary! My name is Mary Painter, LCSW, LADC. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 25 years of counseling experience. I hold a Master's in Social Work and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. I offer a client-centered approach to support individuals in meeting their therapy goals, focusing on strengths and solutions. My approach I use a strength-based and solution-focused approach to therapy. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other interventions that have demonstrated efficacy in treating a variety of presenting problems. My focus I typically work with adults, young adults, and professionals. I treat conditions related to substance misuse and recovery, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I also support individuals presenting with interpersonal and relational issues, phase-of-life challenges, and other life stressors that may negatively impact their functioning and well-being. My communication style I provide a down-to-earth, non-judgmental, calm, and welcoming space where individuals feel safe to share openly about their concerns. Those who work with me often feel supported, heard, hopeful, and build confidence in their ability to resolve their presenting issues. My journey to mental healthcare As an individual, friend, family member, and community member, I have felt the impact of impaired well-being. I have witnessed both those who have recovered from adversity and those who have not. As a therapist, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve others and ?pay it back and forward.? I am also driven to continually improve care as we learn more about effective interventions. My goals for you I begin goal setting by asking clients what brought them into therapy and what they hope to achieve.
