Mary Sheehan, LCSW

Psychotherapist
PA
Hi there. My name is Mary. It is not unusual for people to experience depressed mood, and/or anxiety. Or maybe you have experienced traumatic events that have resulted in post-traumatic stress disorder. Whatever your reason for considering therapy, please know that this is a very important step in improving your quality of life, while lessening any symptoms you may be experiencing. Together we will explore your needs and your goals for therapy. I have been working in the mental health field for over 25 years. My personal style when working with clients is to jointly foster a therapeutic relationship in a relaxed atmosphere. I have trained in several evidence based therapies to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, often used for depression. Also, Cognitive Processing Therapy which has produced good results for trauma work and post-traumatic stress disorder. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), is a form of psychotherapy that helps individuals work through difficult thoughts and feelings while still aligning with their own values. I attended a small university as an adult student and received a bachelor of science in 1994. I then attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and earned a masters degree in 2006. After my internships were completed I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have extensive experience working with Veterans and my husband and sons are Veterans. I have also worked in a private company with people who were living with various other mental health disorders. Before my mental health career began I was a licensed practical nurse. I enjoy the outdoors, raising chickens, and gardening. My experience has taught me how valuable therapy can be. A good therapeutic relationship with a therapist that you feel comfortable with, can assist you in achieving your goals. Are you ready to take that step? I can help.
