Getting to know Mary Slowiak
When we have been through difficult things, oftentimes we feel misunderstood, unheard, unsafe, and hopeless. I do not believe that trauma makes us stronger; rather, I believe there is something beautiful within us that brings us through the trauma. Trauma processing allows us to let go of negative beliefs about ourselves and the world—beliefs such as “I am not safe” or “I am unlovable.” These beliefs can make us feel stuck, as if having a rich and full life is not possible. As your therapist, I will work to empower you to accept all parts of yourself, allowing for peace from within that will trickle into all facets of life.
I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University, and my training in both EMDR and attachment-focused ego-state work allows me to be effective in treating complex trauma as well as other mood disorders. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. If you are exploring your gender identity or sexuality, you are welcome here.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

First Mary is validating and empowering, creating a safe space to then get to the real work. Mary is so so kind and warm as well, but I felt it was important to highlight her intelligence in trauma. I highly recommend anyone who has complex trauma to see her. I went from having multiple panic attacks a week to none within a month of seeing her.
