Mary Stein, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Mary! Thank you for your interest in therapy. I am Mary Stein, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I hold a Master?s in Counseling from Phillips Graduate University and a Bachelor?s from California State University, Northridge. For over twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families, helping clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief, and life challenges. My counseling style is warm, accepting, and interactive. I believe in being respectful, kind, and providing a safe environment with positive feedback for each client. My approach I approach each therapy session with compassion, assisting clients in improving their ability to have healthy and fulfilling lives. I use a humanistic (person-centered) approach where the therapeutic relationship is accepting, collaborative, and authentic. This considers where an individual is in life and takes into account their goals, expectations, and strengths. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves recognizing distortions in thinking, understanding behavior, learning adaptive ways to manage feelings, and using problem-solving skills to cope more functionally. Some CBT techniques I use include journaling, mindfulness, and coping style worksheets. Existential therapy helps clients find meaning and purpose, overcome essential issues, and embrace choices and empowerment. Small steps lead to larger changes and progress. My focus I typically work with adult individuals, couples, and families. When clients are motivated and willing to explore their issues, together we explore what has brought you to seek treatment. From there, we determine the most effective methods and tools to help bring you to a better place in life.
