Getting to know Marylin Perez

With over 18 years of experience in the field of social work, I am dedicated to supporting individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, autism, trauma, and PTSD. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Yeshiva University and a Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. I believe that therapy should be a safe and collaborative space where you feel empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. My approach is always client-centered, meaning I tailor each session to your needs, goals, and personal comfort. I am licensed in NY, NJ, and CT.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a combination of CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic theory to provide personalized therapy that fosters self-awareness, emotional resilience, and long-term growth. As an LGBTQ+ allied therapist, I create an inclusive, affirming space. Being bilingual and fluent in Spanish, I ensure therapy is accessible to the Latino community.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My mission is to help you achieve a higher quality of life by providing tools to manage challenges, build resilience, and cultivate self-compassion. With empathy and respect, I support your unique journey. Healing is personal, and I’m here to help you take the next step toward meaningful change.

For my first time seeing a therapist Marylin was really great. She listened and helped me through a range of challenges, especially helping me understand my anxiety better.
Marylin is kind, empathetic, and direct - all the qualities you want in a good therapist. As a neurodivergent individual, she taught me how to advocate for myself in the workplace, as well as other areas of life. She also provided me with specific, concrete techniques that I can use to calm myself down when I am feeling overwhelmed. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking treatment.
Ms. Perez worked with my son when he was at Jennie Clark Campus she worked extremely well with my son he learned a lot with her Ms. Perez was always very helpful and communicated with myself and his mom I would recommend her very highly
Marylin Perez is my hero! Our family calls her "Glinda The Good Witch." She is kind, gentle, professional, WONDERFUL! She treated my son, Peter - a teenager at the time, for two years and he loves her, as do I. His progress continues because of the foundation she built with him. She equipped him with a skill set that he will carry his entire life. I can honestly say, she is the best! Thank you, Marylin. You are our HERO! And, yes, one person can make the world of difference. Marylin is THAT PERSON!
