Getting to know Mat Bibik
Mat utilizes a warm, curious, and nonjudgmental person-centered approach where therapy is viewed as a collaborative and eclectic process. They believe in implementing any number of tools to affect change and bring solutions, with special attention given to mindfulness, narrative, cognitive-behavioral, existential, and motivational interviewing techniques. Mat has experience working with children and adults of all ages, addressing struggles such as depression, anxiety, school and work stress, and interpersonal conflict. In therapy, they maintain a strong awareness of the various systemic challenges in navigating today's world and how they interact with mental health and functioning. By fostering a positive working alliance, the therapeutic relationship and environment serve as a secure base from which the client can begin to address these challenges and heal. Mat holds an MSEd in Mental Health Counseling from City University of New York, Hunter College.
