Psychotherapist
MD
Hello! I'm Matteo, and I'm glad you have taken a therapeutic risk and considered pursuing therapy. A rapport and therapeutic connection with your therapist is a cornerstone for success. Here is a bit about me and some of the approaches I apply in helping my clients address their current life stresses and symptoms. Success with my clients, in large part, stems from 18 years of direct care experience in the mental health field and 13 years as a licensed clinician in clinical settings which has included inpatient hospital programs, general hospitals, psychiatric day programs, long-term residential substance abuse facilities, and within my own private practice. My goal is to always provide clients with compassionate, evolved, evidence-based treatment that stabilizes their acute psychological symptoms and enhances and improves their self-awareness and daily functioning. By forming a therapeutic relationship based on honesty and collaboration, I’m eager to help my clients manage their symptoms and conditions and improve their quality of life. While the use of cognitive-behavioral-based approaches has proven quite successful in my work with clients, the integration of schema therapy and family systems theory has complemented an approach that emphasizes the belief that therapeutic change and growth is always possible, even in times of significant emotional difficulty. I obtained my post-graduate degree in clinical counseling from Johns Hopkins University and my Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University. I specialize in working with individuals facing anxiety, autism spectrum support, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, depression, eating disorders, family relationships, life transitions, OCD, phobias, intimate/romantic relationships, sleep disorders, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, addiction, and anger management.
