Matthea Rile-Schmidt, LCSW

Matthea Rile-Schmidt, LCSW

Psychotherapist
1775 Woodside Rd, Ste 301, Redwood City, CA
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), community mental health, residential treatment, and crisis intervention. These diverse experiences have shaped my understanding of the many ways people cope, survive, and grow. They’ve also taught me the importance of meeting people with compassion, patience, and authenticity—wherever they are in their journey. My passion for this work is meaningful and inspired by experiences and values that have shaped how I show up for others. Having faced my own challenges, I know how hard it can be to reach out for support. That’s why I’m committed to creating a safe, steady, and supportive space for those in need. Outside of my work, I find grounding and peace in nature. I love hiking, reading, and taking time to slow down and reconnect with the world around me—something I believe is essential for both personal well-being and meaningful therapeutic work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in supporting kids, teens, and young adults as they navigate some of life’s most challenging—and transformative—experiences. My work focuses on helping individuals who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with autism and ADHD, as well as individuals exploring identity, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to meet each person where they are. I emphasize trauma-informed care while integrating mindfulness, somatic practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused approaches to create a personalized healing experience. I believe therapy should be a safe and empowering space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply trying to figure out who you are, I’m here to walk alongside you. I’m deeply committed to cultural responsiveness and holistic well-being, and I strive to foster a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can process your experiences, build resilience, and heal at your own pace.
