Getting to know Matthew Abbott

It's easy to feel isolated, and finding the right fit for a therapist can be a frustrating journey. My goal as a therapist is to work with my clients as they explore cycles that feel stuck in their lives. Through that exploration, we will seek meaningful change. Whatever brings you to therapy, know that I approach each client as the expert of their own experience and themselves. As a therapist, it's my job to guide clients to a deeper exploration of their experience, helping to bring healing and growth. I have a diverse background working with people through anxiety, depression, family issues, past or current trauma, and identity exploration. My main specialties include working with adolescents and adults ages 16 and up with trauma/PTSD. Together, we can foster hope and a pathway forward. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor's degree from John Brown University. *SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS NOT ACCEPTED-NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICES PROVIDER*

I had difficulty finding a therapist that was a good fit for me, but after connecting with Matt I have felt very positive about our sessions together. He is very considerate of my concerns and very professional.
Matt is an exceptionally good listener whose energy and patience made me feel safe and heard. He's professional and timely and has been a pleasure to work with. Would highly recommend his services.
Mr. Matt, as the kids call him from school, is someone who talks to a child more on an equal level allowing my child to not feel talked down to and more understood. Very patient and calm allowing us to vent on problems with an open ear and a way to calm the situation down easily. At first my child only wanted to talk to a sane sex therapist and after the first visit with Mr. Matt, she changed her mind. He helps them relax and open up more by being an equal who is there to help.
I really felt listened to, understood, and cared for by Matt. He made me feel very comfortable discussing difficult things with him. He has helped me to work through and better understand parts of myself.
Matt was both professional and kind. I appreciated his ability to make me feel more relaxed (he uses humor well). I am slow to open up, even with a therapist, but I very quickly felt I could trust Matt with my emotions and experiences. I left every session feeling seen/respected and with some very practical tools to move through the world.
