Getting to know Matthew Banas

Hello my name is Matthew Banas and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As a recent graduate of George Williams College of Aurora University with a Master of Social Work degree, I am excited to work with new clients to meet their therapy needs. I recently moved to Wisconsin, near Lake Geneva, when I decided to make a career change. Before completing my master’s degree, I was a full-time art teacher at a high school for four years. As much as I loved to teach, I believed I could make a bigger difference in children’s lives outside of the educational setting. I value client-centered therapy using many techniques, including using my knowledge of art. I use such techniques to assist in the treatment process in my therapy practice. I specialize in working with adolescents and the teenage population, but I also enjoy bringing my teaching and therapy background to working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ populations. In my spare time I love to fish, create art, and restore antiques. I have a passion for finding old items and giving them a “new life.” It gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.
