UT
Hi there, I'm Matthew! My name is Matthew Barnes, LCSW. As a social worker, I follow a strict code of ethics, putting the client's needs and well-being above all else. I help clients discover their full potential and overcome trauma or barriers holding them back. I believe therapy can benefit everyone and that there doesn’t have to be something “wrong” to seek help. I earned my Bachelor’s from The University of Utah and my Master’s in Social Work from Utah State University. This education, combined with my passion for Positive Psychology, allows me to apply evidence-based treatments for people at any life stage. My approach Individualized Solution-Focused therapy. I create treatment plans with specific goals to guide sessions and maximize long-term success. My focus I have worked with teens, young children, families, couples, individuals, veterans, and court-ordered clients. I treat symptoms such as Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Religious Trauma, Bipolar Disorder, Sexual Disorders, Personality Disorders, and Eating Disorders. My communication style I strive to create a comfortable, judgment-free zone where clients can express anything. As an LCSW, I’m bound to confidentiality, and my purpose is not to judge but to help clients overcome challenges at their own pace. I believe in both emotional and analytical processing to identify and overcome problematic thoughts and behaviors. My journey to mental healthcare Though no longer religious, I served a religious mission for my church right out of high school for two years, enjoying meeting people and discussing their lives and struggles. This inspired me to pursue education in Positive Psychology and Social Work to apply evidence-based treatments for people in any life stage.
