Getting to know Matthew Bukowski

My ideal client can be anyone. I approach counseling from a wellness model, which means that I believe that people are inherently good, and that people tend to thrive under the right conditions. I am most interested in creating deep and lasting changes, and for most people this is long-term work. My clients tend to find me warm and approachable, but also clear and direct in my communication.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I practice attachment and trauma-informed psychotherapy. This means that I look for the roots of current problems in patterns of development. As we come to know the origins of your concerns, we can work to create change. I have also worked with complex family issues, including adoption and foster care for many years, and specialize in parenting.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My aim is to get to know you and partner with you to engage your own energy to meet your goals. I believe that healthy connections are the foundation of growth, and that with diligent effort radical transformation is possible. I am an eternal optimist, and that no matter how insurmountable the challenge seems, together we can make progress.
