Matthew Chrystal, LPC, NCC

Psychotherapist
NJ
The provider is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC00811100 Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make that step feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more human. Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, burned out, or carrying around something much heavier, you don’t have to handle it alone. I specialize in suicide prevention, crisis management, stress management, and anxiety reduction for adults and children. My work is grounded in helping clients build practical coping tools while also creating space to talk openly about what’s really going on—no judgment, no pressure, and a little humor when it helps. If you’re looking for a therapist who is approachable, experienced, and genuinely invested in helping you feel better, I’d be honored to connect and start the conversation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Hey, glad you decided to stop by! You can consider our first session like a no-pressure meet-n-greet. I'll review some info about confidentiality then we can get started getting to know each other. You can share what brings you in, what you want to work on or if you aren't ready to open up yet, that's cool, I can ask you a few questions and we can go from there.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapeutic style is open-minded, empowering & collaborative. Some days therapy might look like venting about your week; other days it might mean unpacking long-standing patterns or navigating a crisis. Either way, letting it out can help—and we'll take it at your pace. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation.
