Matthew Durdovic, LCSW

Psychotherapist
AZ
I have been working in the mental health field for over 25 years, the last 14 years in the field of substance abuse. I have experience working in many different settings, from schools to nursing homes. For the last 5 years, I have worked with active duty Marines, which I have absolutely loved. My approach My therapeutic approach is really a combination of a few therapeutic styles. At my core, I am Humanistic/Rogerian, which basically means that I consider myself to be on the same level as my clients. Therapy is a journey, and we are on that journey together. I also focus on helping people to change the way they think about and process their problems. My focus My ideal client is open-minded and willing to make the necessary changes in their lives. I know that change is really hard for most of us, but the key to personal growth is willingness. Anyone can change the easy stuff...it's easy. Are you willing to put the work in and to change the hard stuff? If you are willing, I am with you all the way! My communication style I tend to be very direct with my clients. I have a lot of compassion and understanding for what my clients are going through. Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage. I do not promise that I am always going to tell you what you want to hear. I do promise you that I'll always tell you the truth, and I will tell you what you need to hear. My journey to mental healthcare I have known that I wanted to be a therapist since I was 15 years old. It's all that I have ever really wanted to do. Being a therapist isn't really a job...it's a calling. I do this job because it is who I am. There aren't many jobs out there that you can say that you are saving lives, but I truly believe that this is one of those jobs.
