Psychotherapist
TX
Hello, I'm Matthew. Therapy is a unique environment where you can be entirely honest and genuine, completely free of judgment. I believe, and my experiences and research agree, that this environment can facilitate great change in life and perspective. Therapy isn't just for those with intense problems; it's for anyone willing to look at themselves objectively and challenge their behavior and point of view. And you won't be alone in this journey. I will be here to guide you, hold you accountable, be genuine with you, and teach you tools you may not even know exist. I graduated from Angelo State University in 2018 with a master's degree in Counseling Psychology. While I've been a therapist since 2018, my journey in mental health and social work began in 2013. I work with adolescents and adults in various areas, including depression, anxiety, and interpersonal concerns. My specialized training and experience include trauma, psychosis, and parenting skills. I've worked as an in-home parent mentor, led a parent support group, and taught community-based parenting classes. Additionally, I spent two years treating trauma in adolescents and adults at a Children's Advocacy Center. My approach to therapy blends cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with an existential-humanistic perspective, depending on your needs. I believe that a supportive, genuine relationship between therapist and client is the most important factor in achieving your goals. With that foundation and some hard work, I hope to help you make meaningful changes in your life. Outside of therapy, I'm a musician and a deep lover of music. I'm also passionate about reading and collecting comic books. These interests keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of creativity and self-expression. If you're ready to take the next step, I'm here to support you. Let's work together to help you achieve your goals.
