Psychotherapist
FL
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and university professor specializing in individual, couple, and family therapy. My work focuses on helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma (including post-accident recovery), relationship distress, and life transitions. I take a practical, evidence-based approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to help you develop clarity, build effective coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change in how you think, feel, and relate to others. I approach therapy as a collaborative process that is also structured when needed but always tailored to your specific goals and situation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a balance of support and direction. I won’t just listen—I’ll help you actively work through problems with clear strategies and tools you can use outside of session. I tend to be: Goal-oriented and structured Direct, but supportive Focused on building practical skills Attentive to patterns in relationships, behavior, and thinking If you’re looking for therapy that helps you understand what’s going on and gives you a clear path forward, we’ll likely be a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a thorough assessment to understand your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. From there, we develop a focused treatment plan tailored to what you want to work on. Ongoing sessions typically include: Identifying patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors Learning and practicing evidence-based coping strategies Applying those strategies to real-life situations Tracking progress and adjusting goals as needed For couples, therapy focuses on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and addressing interaction patterns that contribute to conflict or disconnection, with an emphasis on strengthening the relationship as a source of support. For clients recovering from trauma or injury, treatment may also include psychoeducation (e.g., stress response system), gradual exposure, and coordination with medical or legal contexts when relevant.
