Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Matthew! I’m originally from SoCal but now reside in NorCal. I have over 30 years of behavioral health experience in medical inpatient and outpatient settings and private practice. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from California State University, East Bay, and my Bachelor's from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My approach to therapy is a collaborative effort with the client to focus on coping skills and short- and long-term goals to achieve the best possible outcome. My background is mostly in psychology, working with all ages and most diagnoses. I find it fulfilling to help clients overcome challenges to reach self-actualization. My approach I work together as a team to develop a treatment plan with goals to help clients gain insight, awareness, and resolution to move forward more healthily and productively. My primary modalities are Person-Centered and Gestalt Therapies, emphasizing solution-focused coping skills and treatment goals. My specialties include adolescents and adults, LGBTQIA, addictions, depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, self-esteem, and self-actualization. My focus I prefer clients committed to exploring ways to improve their lives by actively engaging in therapy, including deep soul-searching and being challenged about dysfunctional thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Goals are set together with realistic, attainable short- and long-term timelines and appropriate coping skills. My communication style My style is relaxed and casual, focusing on active listening and supportive feedback. I consider sessions a conversation to explore challenges, roadblocks, and solutions to move forward healthily and positively.
