Getting to know Matthew Larson

Hi there, I'm Matthew! My name is Matt Larson. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Idaho and Oregon. I work from a client-centered approach. My approach EMDR, CBT, TCBT, Solution-focused therapy, Grief counseling, Systems theory. My focus I work with individuals, families, and couples. I specialize in trauma, chronic physical illness, grief counseling, and depression. I work with clients from three years old to 100 years. My communication style I provide a calming environment and meet clients where they’re at. I use a client-centered approach. My journey to mental healthcare I always wanted to help people. When I was younger, I had health issues with depression, and I wanted to help others through mental health challenges. I took my first psychology class in college, initially planning to go to medical school to become a psychiatrist. I learned psychiatrists spend 15 minutes or less with patients, but I wanted to spend more time getting to know those I treat. I attended Northwest Nazarene University and earned my Master’s in Social Work in 2008. I completed clinical hours from 2009 to 2013 and received my Clinical Social Work License in December 2013. In 2014, I began EMDR therapy certification for trauma, completing it in 2016. I believe there is no cookie-cutter approach to counseling and tailor my methods to each client’s needs. I have a never-stop-learning mindset. My goals for you I get to know clients and their reasons for seeking treatment and goals. I work with clients to create a treatment plan that best meets their goals. Therapy can be hard, so I strive to provide a supportive environment where clients can open up, express themselves, and reach their goals. My first session with you Your first session with me is about finding a caring individual who considers the client the expert on themselves.

His speech was very hard to understand. I don't know how anyone can communicate with him. Definitely not going back.
