Feeling like something is wrong can be a heavy burden to bear. Your first instinct may be to hide what you are feeling from others. Seeking and accepting help is a tough step to take, but an essential one in releasing the shame and guilt that can develop when holding a burden inside. My academic and professional experience has deepened my respect and understanding for those experiencing a wide array of challenges. My personal experience provides me with specific perspective in the areas of anxiety and depression Working with our thoughts, feelings, and actions to incrementally help ourselves is the key to long term success, in my experience. This work may take the form of acknowledgement, self-compassion, coping, challenging or balancing, among other things. In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I’ve found elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to be beneficial in helping manage stubborn symptoms that persist. I believe in compassionate collaboration as the foundation of a therapeutic relationship. I’m not an expert on your life, but a partner in the pursuit of improvement. With effort, progress can be made. The first step is to take stock of what’s helping, what’s hurting and what can be changed in a non-judgmental, therapeutic setting. My chief aim is to build a relationship that feels like an outlet for authentic discussion of improvement.
