Matthew Pfeiffer, MA, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
When working with patients, I take a holistic approach and assess from a bio/psycho/social/spiritual point of view. I believe assessing the whole patient is the best way to understand underlying problems and symptoms related to psychopathology. Most importantly, empathy, trust, a therapeutic alliance, and rapport are of utmost concern; I want your therapy hour to be useful, beneficial, and enjoyable. My areas of specialty include treatment of sleep disruptions/insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Issues I enjoy focusing on in a therapeutic context include chronic illness, medication adherence, coping skills, infidelity, life transitions, men's issues, spirituality, and stress. I have experience working with LGB clients on issues of sexual identity, orientation, and HIV status. I draw from several approaches and modalities in providing therapy, including Christian counseling, person-centered approach, interpersonal therapy, political psychology, and psychodynamic therapies. I completed my degrees in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University - San Francisco. Additionally, I earned a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution from Portland State University in Portland. I am currently licensed to practice as an LPCC in California and LPC in Oregon.
