Psychotherapist
PA
Hi there, I'm Matthew! My name is Matthew Sniscak, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. Through identifying your natural strengths and emphasizing a solution-based approach, my primary goal as your therapist is to guide you toward finding your own truth and meaning, as well as meeting you where you are at through the process of self-discovery. My primary specialties and areas of practice include working with OCD, phobias, and anxiety-related disorders such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and separation anxiety. My approach My approach to therapy is to primarily meet you where you are in your journey of self-discovery by creating collaborative goals and learning more about who you are. To do this, I focus on utilizing person-centered therapy primarily. I also promote skill building, especially in anxiety management, through exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy, prolonged exposure (PE), and a combination of mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My focus I love to work with clients who are unsure about how to approach uncomfortable situations, deal with intrusive thoughts, and are genuinely curious to learn how to manage their anxiety in response to these challenges. If you have dealt with intrusive or unwanted thoughts and have concerns about phobias, relationships, or situations, you are in the right place. Commonly, I work with individuals who struggle with anxiety triggers related to relationships and jobs, trauma-related incidents, life transitions, social situations, perfectionism, phobias, scrupulosity, and overall uncertainty about the future. My communication style I emphasize that I am your guide and you are the leader in your own journey. I am here to be objective, point out patterns, and teach you new approaches when discussing uncomfortable topics.
