ME
Hi there, I'm Matthew! My name is Matthew Wells, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the USC Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. I have 20 years of experience in behavioral health services and began providing tele-therapy in 2020. I believe technology supports the therapeutic process by making it easier for clients to participate in meetings and engage in work between sessions to help support positive change. My approach to therapy emphasizes personalized care in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, allowing you to explore your thoughts and emotions while developing coping skills. I work with anyone 18 and older who is ready and able to make a positive change in their life. My approach I am trained in evidence-based modalities of care, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My focus I have experience helping clients with stress and anxiety, panic, relationship issues, depression, ADHD, substance use, life transitions, and coping with grief and loss. My communication style I think it’s important for people to feel comfortable communicating openly and freely in session. I try to create a supportive and conversational tone during sessions. I am direct when necessary. My journey to mental healthcare I have been fortunate to have had a very eclectic career so far. My journey to become a therapist was not linear nor predestined. I wake up every day grateful for the opportunity to help people reach their goals. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative process. Clear goals will be important to learn what you want to achieve as a result of therapy. My first session with you In our initial sessions, you will have an opportunity to share your story and ask any questions you may have. I will be curious and ask a number of questions to get to know more about you and what is bringing you into therapy.
