“Matt is awesome! This was my first time doing therapy and I was convinced it was nonsense until I had some sessions with Matt. He's easy to relate with and is very down to earth. Never once felt uncomfortable or judged. I would highly recommend him.”

“I feel like I’m talking to a real person when I have therapy sessions with Matt, something that I unfortunately can’t say about many of my past therapists. He is kind, empathetic, and a great listener. I also feel as though he is very well-versed in the world of narcissism and narcissistic abuse (what is narcissism, best practices for dealing with narcissistic people in your life, etc.). This is an area/topic that my previous therapists didn’t seem to really be able to deal with or understand that well. It is a very healing and validating experience to finally work with a licensed mental health professional who I feel really understands the dynamics that can come about when dealing with narcissistic people in your life. Matt has very flexible availability and has been very generous and patient with me in working around my availability and budget. I completely recommend booking a free consultation with him to see if he would be a good fit for you as a therapist! ”

Getting to know Matthew Wisniewski

MW Counseling LLC is a mental health counseling practice that takes a Humanistic approach to counseling, focuses on providing client-centered treatment, and emphasizes the client's needs over an intervention-driven agenda. In short, we focus on you, the client above all else. MW Counseling is for those who have felt frustrated with previous counselors because they got the impression that their counselor was not truly listening to what they were saying and for those new to counseling who are trying to test the waters.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I base my counseling sessions off the three core conditions of person-centered therapy: empathy, congruence (genuineness), unconditional positive regard (no judgement). I tailor sessions around those conditions based on the client's needs. For example, if a client needs help with how their thoughts affect their behaviors, then I will use more CBT. If a client has had a bad week and they just need a safe space to vent their emotions, I will actively listen via reflections and summarizing thoughts.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical session is structured on rapport, updates, processing, and moving forward. I begin with rapport building conversation to help the client feel more comfortable talking with me. Next, we discuss what has happened in the client's life since the last session, processing what needs further discussion. Finally, the session concludes with discussion on what the client can do to make progress or maintain progress for their goals.

In-network insurances

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance

More information on payments and coverage

I process payments the morning of the appointment by charging the card provided in your account on my Client Portal. Cancellations that are not made 24 hours in advance will be subject to a late cancellation fee of the price of the session. This also applies to a no call no show situation. I offer forgiveness for the first late cancel or no show by applying a credit to your account if you return for another session.
