Getting to know Mattilyn Millman

You've learned to survive what you should never have endured, yet survival mode won’t turn off. You feel too much and not enough, carrying a quiet belief you're broken. Trauma still lives in your body... it is showing up as anxiety, numbness, or sudden overwhelm. You move through your day holding it all together, caring for others, doing what needs to be done. But then it gets quiet... maybe you’re lying in bed at night, your mind won’t slow down, or you feel that familiar heaviness settle in your chest. Trust feels distant, even within yourself. In those moments, you don’t just want to cope, you want to feel like you again. Using EMDR within a parts-based, holistic approach, we gently identify the parts of you still holding pain. Those that keep you guarded, disconnected, or depleted; and then we work with them, not against them. This process supports your mind, body, and soul integration, so healing becomes something you truly feel, not just understand. You’re not just seeking therapy. You’re seeking safety, relief, and real change. With me, you don’t have to over explain or stay guarded. Together we’ll ease overwhelm, make sense of your story, and release shame. I’ll help you reconnect and build trust. Feel free to reach out :) I look forward to walking alongside you on your healing journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with clients who have experienced trauma. Whether this an acute event, chronic, complex, or secondary experiences I am here to guide you on your healing journey. During our initial sessions we will start by building trust with each other, learning self-regulation skills, and incorporating self-care habits. As we heal your trauma expect to feel more empowered and an excitement for life!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

One of the most important things about starting the therapy process is the connection. I typically say it could take up to 2-3 sessions to fully know if this is the right fit, though I do offer a free 15 minute consultation to answer any questions you might have about the therapy process prior to starting our work. Please reach out and let's see if we could be a good fit and if I can be the person to support you on your healing journey :) The first couple of sessions will be all about getting to know each other, and creating a treatment plan/goals. I am very transparent about the process of therapy, and encourage open and honest collaboration.
