Getting to know Maureen Brackey

I became a therapist because I saw how powerfully transformative having a safe space could be in my life and the lives of my loved ones. It is my firm belief that everyone can benefit from therapy if they are well matched to the person they are working with. Over the past decade, I've honed a specialty focus on trauma-informed care, LGBTQ+ issues, human sexuality, women's empowerment, relationships and family sessions, and helping clients gain a strong sense of self and direction in the face of challenging life circumstances. If these areas resonate with you, I'd love to schedule a time to connect about what you are looking for in a therapist. I completed my undergraduate degree in Communication Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned my Master's in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California (USC). I am licensed in California and Pennsylvania. My clinical focus areas include trauma, relationships, sexuality, gender, and the personality disorder spectrum, in addition to working extensively with associated comorbidities such as anxiety and depression. I am a believer in whole-person wellness and integrate yogic principles, creative arts, and mindfulness into sessions to assist with deeper work. At the present time, I am accepting remote clients via telehealth as a safety precaution due to COVID-19. I look forward to meeting you and am excited to work toward your goals together!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will focus on getting a thorough understanding of what brought you to therapy and how you would like to make changes in your life. Subsequent sessions will focus on building progress toward those goals. Each session is an opportunity to fine tune and shift the goals so they are an accurate reflection of your current thoughts, feelings and beliefs as we go through the therapeutic process.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
