What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe being their truest selves, without judgment or pressure. I strive to build a relationship that feels meaningful, supportive, steady, and with the kind of occasional humor that makes hard conversations just a little easier.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take time to understand your full story - your strengths, experiences, relationships, and goals. I help you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns (CBT), build skills to handle tough emotions and live by your values (ACT), strengthen relationship dynamics (Gottman), and explore how past attachment patterns show up today - all tailored to you. I am trained in Level 1 of the Gottman Method, and use it in my work with couples. I strive to understand the full scope of who each client is — their story, their strengths, what they’ve lived through, and what they want from our work together. I use a holistic, highly personalized approach that adapts to each client’s needs, centering on where they are and who they hope to become. I work alongside clients as a teammate, helping them make sense of their experiences and make impactful, long-term change. Please note: McKenna is supervised by Alyssa M. Our intake team will communicate with you during the booking process to confirm whether you are scheduled with her. Once your appointment is confirmed, we will follow up to let you know which provider you’ll be seeing.
