Getting to know Meacco Verdun
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in New Orleans, Louisiana, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, stress, anger management, life’s transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, and women’s concerns. My approach is Person-Centered and Solution-Focused—non-authoritative methods that empower clients to decide the support they need to make progress and start feeling better.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that the client is the expert in their own life, and I am here to guide them toward the growth they seek. Using Person-Centered and Solution-Focused techniques helps us build a shared understanding of their reality, set meaningful goals, and collaboratively chart a path forward.
I have found that my style and approach resonate well with adults facing challenges related to life and work transitions, as well as personal and social pressures. These challenges often manifest as anxiety, depression, stress, and anger. I work to help clients navigate these periods and develop skills that foster a more positive outlook and greater self-acceptance.
My communication style is straightforward, calm, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing anything with me, and I pride myself on listening without judgment. Working with me will feel like talking to your best friend who also happens to be a licensed counselor.
My journey to becoming a therapist took a few turns. In college, I volunteered for a suicide prevention hotline, but at that time, I was focused on becoming a teacher. After many years teaching high school, I decided to pursue therapy as my calling.
