“Dr. Guy's delicate and intentional approach to therapy is unmatched. She has quite literally changed my life by helping me cultivate healthier ways to regulate my emotions. I don't think a review testimonial will do her justice because she is that incredible at what she does. I am grateful for the growtherapy platform for bringing us together and creating a safe space for mental health.”

“Dr. Guy is experienced, compassionate, humorous and direct. But the reason that I chose her as our therapist is because she has a plan and is solution oriented. It took us a long time to find a family therapist and I am pleased with her approach and her professionalism.”

Getting to know Mechell Guy

You got problems? Call Dr. Guy! Are you seeking help to resolve everyday problems, reduce stressors, resolve conflict, effectively communicate, manage angry feelings, overcome anxiety, depression, or hurts from past or recent trauma, face social, school, and work-related struggles, or improve your overall mental, emotional, social, or behavioral health? Maybe you are having difficulties in your marriage—constant arguing, miscommunication, infidelity, blending families, life-changing events, parenting problems, separation and divorce, unresolved grief or loss, interpersonal relationship conflict, or planning to get married. I know how important it is to have a therapist who can relate to your life experiences. I am a caring Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) with a Doctorate of Education in Community Care and Counseling from Liberty University, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also hold a Master’s in Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University. I specialize in treating individuals, couples, families, marriages, and groups. I understand the daily challenges you face, and I believe healing is a process that involves changing negative thoughts so you can take action to feel your very best. Together, we can discover a healthier, happier way of living to achieve your personal well-being. My biggest strength is my greatest passion—to help clients like you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Welcome to therapy! I know you are wondering what to expect from your counseling sessions. It is important for you to explore your own feelings and thoughts and to try new approaches in order for change to occur. The success of our work together depends on the quality of the efforts on both our parts, and the realization that your are responsible for lifestyle choices/changes that may result from therapy. Progress for counseling may not be guaranteed. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to discuss any questions you may have regarding the treatment plan. You can expect me to always strive to provide quality care for you, as the client, and support you in reaching a resolution to the issues at hand.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Dr. Guy is my first therapist and she has made this experience so welcoming and effective! I was so nervous going into my first session because essentially you’re going to be opening up to a complete stranger, but she melted all of those fears with her hello and warm smile. I look forward to my sessions now because I know she is going to take notes, listen actively, recall my own words and actions to me when I’m questioning myself and she always gives me a challenge to stretch me for the time between sessions. I am truly grateful for finding Dr. Guy.
