Psychotherapist
OK
Hi there, I'm Megan! I like to think of a session with me as me walking alongside you and talking through whatever this season of life is offering you. I am looking forward to being a small part of your healing journey. My approach I really enjoy being able to meet my clients where they are at so we can truly focus on what they would like to work through. I am very strengths based and build off of what a client can do to work towards achieving their goals. My focus My ideal client would be someone who is very forthcoming and honest with information that has a clear understanding that is a judgement free zone. My communication style I am pretty direct and very compassionate for others. I would like to think I have a set a very nurturing tone for treatment. My journey to mental healthcare I took the scenic route to becoming a licensed clinical therapist. I worked with the foster care system for over 10 years and then transitioned into practicing therapy in a community based mental health system. During this time, I was able to place a greater focus on achieving my personal goals. I graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City with my master's in social work. I graduated from MSSU with my BS in psychology. My goals for you I am a strong believer in having clients set their own goals while I help fine tune them and make them specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time sensitive. This is how we keep on track to ensure we are focusing on the right things. My first session with you First session I start off with introductions and then really allow the client to be the expert of what they are looking for to get out of that first session. If they are needing a safe space and a listening ear to process things I am happy to provide that. Otherwise, we can begin with assessments and more open-ended questions on my part to guide the conversation.
