My clinical experience has focused on serving those who experience anxiety, depression, family and marriage/relationship struggles, PTSD (veterans, military active duty, first responders). Most clients I see are striving to understand what they are feeling and sometimes why they are having certain symptoms. Therapeutic intervention can help guide a client to finding some of those answers and creating goals to help them live with more peace and happiness.

Getting to know Megan Garcia

My clinical experience has focused on serving those who experience anxiety, depression, family and marriage/relationship struggles, PTSD (veterans, military active duty, first responders). Most clients I see are striving to understand what they are feeling and sometimes why they are having certain symptoms. Therapeutic intervention can help guide a client to finding some of those answers and creating goals to help them live with more peace and happiness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

From your first inquiry to the first session, I make the process seamless. I recognize that reaching out can be difficult sometimes and talking over the phone isn't for everyone. Our sessions will be very collaborative. I am interactive in sessions meaning, I like to ask questions that maybe you haven't considered before. It's a casual setting. Feel free to bring your favorite (non alcoholic) beverage with you, your food or snack if you're on the go. My goal is to create a comfortable space where you can process and meet your therapy goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is a "getting to know you" session. I normally don't do consultations because I don't feel 15 minutes is enough time to really get an idea if this would be a good fit for you. By the end of the session, we will have identified what you want out of therapy, a tentative plan, and I will reflect what I have learned about you. I will also share some of my experience with you and how it has helped others. From there, we'll discuss the best schedule for you. I always recommend weekly sessions in the beginning as this builds momentum. After that we can discuss any changes moving forward. I am the type of person that rarely cancels my sessions and I run on time all of the time. I book my sessions on the hour and each session can last anywhere from 45-55 minutes. Some times, things can be going well and you just don't need the full hour. I am flexible with ending earlier at times. When you talk with me, I am your number one fan. I remember details and help keep you on track when needed. When there is consistency and follow through, I believe the best work is done.
