Trauma is treatable. Trauma is stored in a present tense form. Like an infected wound, years later these experiences continue to create pain. Current modalities allow us to utilize the brain's own metabolic processes to transform memories from a present tense from to past tense, relieving the body's psychic nervous system. The wound becomes a scar, and psychic pain resolves. The brain creates our reality. Pain is a symphony of signals that the body tries to interpret. But it is a notoriously imprecise signaling system. The goal of therapy is to reduce pain and distress through accurately mapping of cause and effect, and utilizing expectations to shape reality. This is essentially the practice of hypnoanalysis.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Often the biggest block to treatment are things we can't talk about. It's easy to build a relationship with a therapist based on your ideal self: the parts of you society accepts, including wounded parts. The deeper work happens when we spend time with the parts of ourselves we reject and abhor. As we make the unconscious, conscious, we increase our self-compassion and decrease reactivity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy is not about telling your therapist what happened this week, or last week, or your life story. Therapy is about encountering yourself. Through artistic interventions, projective activities, and visualizations, I guide patients on a journey that transforms and expands their perspective. As pain resolves, new paths open up.
