Getting to know Megan Schiloski

I have over seven years of experience in the mental health field, working across a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient care. My work has focused on supporting individuals facing both mental health and substance use challenges, allowing me to develop the competence to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including dual-diagnosis concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, neurodivergence, and substance use, as well as relationship struggles, self-esteem, identity exploration, and significant life transitions. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and flexible. I aim to make the process feel approachable; not clinical, rigid, or overwhelming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me is about building a trusting, comfortable relationship where you feel safe to be yourself. In our first few sessions, we’ll talk about what’s going on in your life, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to get out of it. There’s no pressure; we go at your pace. As we get to know each other, we’ll develop a few treatment goals to help guide our work. These might include things like managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, developing healthy coping skills, or healing from difficult experiences. For clients working on substance use, we might focus on reducing or stopping use, identifying triggers, building relapse prevention strategies, and creating a life that supports long-term recovery. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on what fits you best; whether that’s learning practical tools, doing deeper self-exploration, or a combination of both. Above all, therapy is a collaborative process. You bring your goals, insights, and lived experience, and I bring support, tools, and encouragement to help you move forward in a way that feels meaningful and real.
