Getting to know Megan Waters

Do you often feel overwhelmed with life? Or do you feel that something from your past is keeping you stuck? I can help with anxiety, depression, past trauma, negative self-talk, relationship issues, and more. I have found great success walking alongside the people I work with to help them move from where they are to where they want to be… wherever that might be! I’m nonjudgmental and accepting of all walks of life—LGBTQIA+ individuals are welcome. I didn’t get into therapy to “fix” people; I use my practice to guide and help find new ways of doing or looking at things. I love being able to track the progress my clients make when they utilize the skills we’ve talked about in session. I use a mix of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for most cases. For those suffering from PTSD, I use my Certified Clinical Trauma Professional training, which includes somatic (body) work along with narrative work, all grounded in the neuroscience of trauma. I’m not overly concerned with labels and diagnoses—I’m just here to help you make changes to function better and feel better day to day. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University, Purdue University, Indianapolis, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support my clients effectively. If you think my approach sounds like it would help you, please reach out and we can schedule our first session to determine if we’ll be a good fit to work together moving forward. I genuinely can’t wait to meet you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During the first session, I will be completing in intake assessment where I will ask a lot of questions to get to know you and how I can help. From there, we will decide on a path for treatment and our goals. Toward the end, I will tell you what I'm thinking as far as a diagnosis and where I see our treatment going. You will always have full and complete control, this is your therapy so I want to ensure you get what you need out of our time together. My hope is that after the first session you will leave feeling hopeful that we can create change and help you feel better.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Megan's been a fantastic guide to listening, empowering, teaching, sharing, and overcoming many of my internal barriers. I couldn't ask for a better person to empower me with tools to achieve my best, and the support to change those tools or retry when I fall down.
Megan is amazing im only three sessions in and I have got more done for me than I have in years with other councelors. She is very inviting, organized, and goal/solution oriented. I can already see improvements in my mood and she has helped me to see hope again that I actually can improve upon myself. She has also helped me identify triggers or unhealthy thought processes, and is actively trying to help me. I Just wish I had found her practice sooner, but I have no doubt that im headed in the right direction now! Thank you Megan!!!
I'm so happy I found Megan when I started looking for a therapist. I always feel safe to talk about anything on my mind and leave my sessions feeling lighter.
Megan has put my mind at ease. I have previously done therapy with therapists who were not my "fit", which I felt like turned me off to therapy in general. However, I'm soooo glad I found Megan. She helped me realize that my c-PTSD is causing a lot of my issues, and we are getting to the bottom of helping them :) Thank you SO much Megan for all that you do!
Megan listens and sympathizes with my struggles so I feel heard but always tries to offer helpful solutions or exercises when appropriate. I've started reframing how I think about things and its extremely helpful.
The therapist really didn’t grasp or acknowledge what i went through. Didn’t provide good feed back. Also told me im not in crisis when i was.
